The documentary narrates the search for the house called Emak Bakia, near the coast of Lapurdi, where 83 years before the artist Man Ray made a picture where he set the rules for avant-garde cinema in the 1920s.

The farmer Christen, his wife Änneli, their sons Resli and Christeli, and their daughter Annelisi live together harmoniously on the Liebiwyl farm. The harmony is disrupted when Christen allows himself to be persuaded by the deceitful village clerk to speculate with his ward's money. As a result, all the money is lost, and the defrauded farmer has to pay the community for the damage out of his own pocket. This angers Änneli, whose great willingness to help is thwarted by Christen, who is becoming increasingly stingy. One harsh word leads to another, and soon the couple is facing a shambles. The children also suffer from the unfriendly atmosphere at home. Only a visit to church on Pentecost and the corresponding sermon make reconciliation possible.

On the 60th anniversary of the accident and the 100th year since his birth, we follow his children on a voyage to reconstruct the writer, the psychiatrist, the man behind the work that turned him into a literary promise. A journey through the figure of Martín-Santos, his peculiar view of post-war Spain and his work hidden for years based on partly unpublished texts.

The film is organized around a selection of letters written between 1924 and 1943 by Catholics to the Abbot Jean Viollet, founder of the Christian Marriage Association and a magazine devoted to the "matrimonial questions" of Christians.

On his journey, he interviews repentant terrorists, those responsible for crimes who are now integrated into their communities, and those convicted of terrorism who now hold positions as mayors, parliamentarians, or university professors, to hear their explanations about their past links to the ultra-nationalist network and to find out what mark terrorism has left on the Basque Country after its long and painful existence.
