Blue Holes: Diving The Labyrinth

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC begleitet ein Team von deutschen und US-amerikanischen Tauchern bei der Erforschung der legendären „Blue Holes" der Bahama-Inseln, kreisrunde, nach oben offene Unterwasserhöhlen, die bis zu 200 Meter tief sind. Da es am Grunde dieser Schächte keinen nennenswerten Wasseraustausch gibt, tummeln sich hier nur besonders widerstandsfähige Einzeller - doch es finden sich auch Fossilien aus längst vergangenen Erdepochen. Vielfach lagen die jetzt überfluteten Höhlensysteme noch vor wenigen tausend Jahren oberhalb des Meeresspiegels, und so haben sich hier auch die Überreste zahlreicher Tiere und sogar von Menschen erhalten. Unterwasserfilmer Wes Skiles beobachtet das Taucherteam bei seinen aufregenden Expeditionen in die Tiefe und liefert spektakuläre Bilder aus einer bislang nahezu unzugänglichen Welt.
