A young girl is being asked about a man with whom she was keeping company, as her grandmother plays a lament on a shamisen. Then the focus changes to a couple arriving from Tokyo - the woman returning to her home, the man an escapee from the yakuza. The man doesn't seem to mind when the woman sells her favours to tourists at the local bar, just as she seems to take his attentions to Yuki, a blind girl, with equanimity.

Ruth Butler, a clerk in an emporium, marries Jimmy Rutledge and thereby greatly displeases his mother, the owner of the emporium, because of Ruth's lowly origins. Consumed by their own greed, the teenagers then set out to steal from a millionaire's corpse who had a mouthful of gold coins and their action somehow angers the dead man. Later, the group of teenagers then encounter various horrifying situations as the spirits of the man returns to haunt them.
