The director Gaetano Di Vaio wanders around in a Naples that struggles to survive, telling the difficulties of those who, on the margins of society, try to overcome the shortcomings of the state, reinventing themselves a job. A documentary that does not just show what happens, but wants to explain the reason for what happens, in a society that is the paradox of itself.

During WWII, a bunch of children, with 11-year old Anton and his younger brother Rudi in the middle, meet up at a wall at the cemetery. They regularly have tests of courage. As it is Rudi's turn, he makes his way, armed with a knife, to the grave of a child murderer, where the night ends in terror.

The desire to understand the situation leads the director to participate in several futile attempts to land on the islands. Although he finds himself on the frontline during an escalation in the conflict, he is able to maintain his distance as an impartial observer.
